One Meralco Foundation (OMF), the social development branch of the Meralco Group led by Manuel V. Pangilinan, collaborated with volunteers from Radius Telecoms, MPower, and Rockwell Land Corporation to plant native tree seedlings at the UP Laguna-Quezon Land Grant (UP LQLG) located in Siniloan, Laguna. This activity, conducted under OMF’s ongoing One For Trees initiative and supported by local forest rangers, aims to restore and preserve the southern corridor of the Sierra Madre mountain range.
Since 2022, OMF, in partnership with Fostering Education & Environment for Development, Inc. (FEED), has been actively promoting the conservation of the UP LQLG. More than 200,000 trees have been planted in the area, significantly enhancing biodiversity and bolstering natural defenses against climate change impacts.
FEED Partnerships Director Anne-Marie Bakker highlighted the expanding participation of volunteers supporting the cause, stating, "The good news is that there are more and more of you supporting these efforts, and it’s a growing tribe. I hope you will be inspired to keep doing it."
OMF President Jeffrey O. Tarayao emphasized the broader significance of the program, noting, "We are truly inspired that One For Trees has been living up to its name by bringing together so many organizations to plant and nurture trees. The program is cultivating a collective resolve for environmental stewardship while also supporting the livelihood of communities in our reforestation areas."
Since its inception in 2019, One For Trees has successfully planted and maintained over 2.7 million trees nationwide, underscoring OMF’s dedication to fostering a greener and more sustainable future for the country.
