HUAWEI Launches Global Digital Art Contest Featuring Animation Category and $1,000 Prizes

HUAWEI has opened submissions for its GoPaint Worldwide Creating Activity 2025, a global digital art competition aimed at celebrating and advancing digital creativity. Artists and enthusiasts worldwide are encouraged to showcase their most innovative digital paintings and animations using HUAWEI’s MatePad tablets and the exclusive GoPaint app. This year’s contest introduces an Animation category, enabling creators to produce frame-by-frame animations that bring their artwork to life. Alongside animation, entries can be submitted across four additional categories: Digital Watercolour & Ink, Sci-Fi Art, Cutting-Edge Paintings, and Narrative Art, each highlighting distinct styles and storytelling methods. Participants aged 18 and above may submit up to 30 original works. All entries must be created with HUAWEI tablets and uploaded via the official contest platform in JPG, PNG, or MP4 formats, maintaining original EXIF data. Image submissions should not exceed 30MB at 300 dpi, while animation files can be up to 400MB with 1080p resolution. Each artwork needs a brief description of 30 to 100 words detailing its inspiration or story. Shortlisted artists might be requested to provide a timelapse or process video of their creation. Prizes include 20 Honorable Mentions, each awarded $1,000 and a certificate. Winning entries will also enjoy extensive exposure at HUAWEI press events, global exhibitions, international campaigns, and on social media. Selected artworks may be featured in HUAWEI Themes as wallpapers or on merchandise, reaching millions worldwide. Winners will also have the opportunity to share the narratives behind their creations through video interviews, offering audiences insight into their artistic journey. The judging panel comprises esteemed international figures such as Dezio, co-founder of Urban Art United; Laura Gallon, co-founder of the Arte Laguna Prize; Jia Zhangke, President of the China Film Director’s Guild; and Victo Ngai, the first ethnic Chinese artist awarded the Hamilton King Award by the Society of Illustrators. Central to the competition is the HUAWEI GoPaint app, a professional digital painting software tailored for the MatePad series. It offers over 150 customizable brushes, advanced layer management with 15% more large canvas layers, ultra-low latency for natural drawing experience, and frame animation tools for dynamic artworks. The app also features an AI portrait line draft that assists artists in generating clean outlines, enhancing workflow efficiency. Artists looking to participate can download the GoPaint app exclusively on HUAWEI tablets and submit their works through the contest website, HUAWEI Community, or the My HUAWEI app using a valid HUAWEI ID. Submission remains open until December 31, 2025. Participants are advised to review the contest Terms & Conditions on the HUAWEI Community page before entering. For detailed information about the competition and the GoPaint app, interested individuals can visit HUAWEI’s official website as well as its Facebook and Instagram pages.
