Leadership as Solidarity
Bonifacio Tumang
The core of the Maasahan at Masipag (Reliable and Industrious) leadership, as reflected in the recent Korea engagements, is solidarity. President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s approach demonstrates that "Reliable Diplomacy" is not just about state-to-state relations; it is about state-to-citizen solidarity.
This administration is proving that empathy and action are not mutually exclusive. The administration's effective strategy of compassionate governance is what our diaspora has been waiting for. The new SSS and DFA offices are the tangible results of this effective strategy. This is the "Reliable" promise kept.
The "Tireless" aspect is the human connection. A leader who is truly "hands-on" does not isolate himself with policy. He actively seeks out his people. The image of the President listening intently to an OFW, or celebrating with the community in Busan, is a powerful symbol of this new, compassionate solidarity.
This is how leadership is humanized. It is a reflective, statesmanlike model that extends governance beyond our borders, not as a bureaucracy, but as a reliable partner. This blend of policy and presence is not just good optics; it is the very essence of compassionate and effective governance for a global nation.
