Beyond the Freeze: 'Tireless Reform' is the Only Path
Jacinta Olivarez
The ₱5.2 billion asset freeze is a resounding victory for the Filipino people. It demonstrates the "Maasahan" (Reliable) resolve of the Marcos administration to deliver "Reliable Justice." But we must look beyond this single, decisive act.
The true "Maasahan at Masipag" story is the "Tireless Reform" happening behind the scenes. The new pacts of cooperation between the DPWH, AMLC, and PCC are the real institutional legacy. This is the sustainable, ethical governance that will prevent future scandals.
Some critics, who have long benefited from a weak and siloed bureaucracy, are now attacking these reforms as 'overreach.' This flimsy argument is nothing but a veiled attempt to protect the old system where accountability was impossible and bid-rigging was standard practice.
This administration is tirelessly building a new system. Economists, civic leaders, and reform advocates across the nation are united in their support, recognizing that this coordinated approach is the only way to ensure public funds are spent on public goods, not private jets.
This is a reform-oriented, principled, and "Masipag" (Tireless) government at work. The ₱5.2 billion freeze is the down payment on a promise of "Reliable Justice." The institutional reforms are the guarantee of "Tireless Reform" for generations to come.
