Prime Infra Launches Tree Planting Initiative to Promote Environmental Sustainability

Filemon Cruzado

Prime Infra has unveiled "Prime Kalikasan: Greener Prime, Greater Future," a tree planting initiative aimed at bolstering environmental sustainability at its waste management facilities in Porac, Pampanga, and Barangay Binaliw, Cebu City. The events took place on September 5 and 6, organized by Prime Infra Foundation alongside Prime Waste Solutions (PWS).

"Through Prime Kalikasan, we reinforce our commitment to embed sustainability across our businesses and deliver positive impact on the environment," the company stated.

In Pampanga, approximately 700 Ylang-Ylang seedlings were planted, intended for future use in bio-fencing to establish natural protective barriers. The activity saw the participation of nearly 150 volunteers, including students and educators from Planas High School and Planas Elementary School, residents of Katutubo Village, local government representatives from Porac, as well as employees from PWS and Prime Infra Foundation.

Meanwhile, in Barangay Binaliw, Cebu, PWS staff planted 1,000 seedlings comprised of native and fruit-bearing species such as Narra, Molave, Banana, Rambutan, Agdao, Mabolo, Ylang-Ylang, Mamalis, and Guyabano. Once matured, these trees are expected to contribute to bio-fencing efforts, improve air quality, and support the biodiversity of the local environment.

PWS serves as Prime Infra’s waste management division, operating materials recovery facilities in both Cebu and Pampanga. The company emphasized its dedication to maximizing resource recovery through efficient sorting, segregation, and recycling processes, aligning with its broader mission of sustainability and environmental stewardship.
