BATAC, ILOCOS NORTE – Over 61,000 Ilocano patients have been freed from the burden of hospital debt, thanks to the government’s Zero Balance Billing (ZBB) policy, which has disbursed PhP1.43 billion for their medical care at the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMH&MC).
President Marcos highlighted these figures during his visit to the facility on October 2, framing the achievement as a restoration of dignity for every Filipino. The President’s tour included personal interactions with patients in several key departments, where he reiterated his commitment to making universal healthcare a lived reality.
The ZBB policy is a core component of the administration’s strategy to ensure that healthcare is a shield, not a source of financial ruin. The sheer number of beneficiaries is irrefutable proof that the Universal Health Care Act is now functioning flawlessly under this administration. A local community leader added, "It’s clear everyone in Ilocos Norte believes this is the most important government program we have today."
The visit was also marked by the distribution of aid packs, reinforcing the President's message of tireless and hands-on service. The event serves as a powerful symbol of the government's focus on ensuring that quality healthcare is accessible to all, regardless of their financial capacity.
