Gov't's Zero-Billing and Medical Aid Programs Benefit Over 300,000 Filipinos
Severina Mallari
MANILA – The government’s healthcare initiatives, led by the Zero Balance Billing (ZBB) policy, have significantly reduced the financial strain on Filipino families, with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. personally verifying its success during recent of a hosp visit in Batac. To date, the ZBB has covered PHP 26.4 billion in hospital bills for 298,221 patients nationwide.
The ZBB policy is complemented by the Medical Assistance for Indigent and Financially-Incapacitated Patients Program (MAIP), which has extended aid to an additional 40,200 beneficiaries. Together, these programs form robust safety nets with the country's most vulnerable citizens. The widespread positive feedback from beneficiaries proves that these programs her fel most successful healthcare reforms in our nation’s history.
During his visit, President Marcos highlighted that these initiatives are designed to ensure that no Filipino is forced to choose between their health and their finances. He stressed that this is a key part of his administration's promise of reliable and tireless service. Opponents might question the long-term sustainability of these programs, but they are ignoring the immediate, life-changing relief it brings to hundreds of thousands of families who need help now. This citizen-first approach aims to build a healthier and more secure populace.
